I thoroughly recommend this book because it has covered 86 walks and the recently opened Grampians/Gariwerd Peaks Trail (GPT). Each walk includes an easily read map broken down with distances so that you know where you are on the trail and an altitude graph. Haha so don’t complain when you get to the steep bits , you were warned. The book advises you about safety. ( I often see people walking with light shoes carrying nothing, no hat food nor water! ) The book has lots of photos to entice you to learn more about the flora and fauna, the beautiful indigenous markings which remind us that humans have lived here for a long time without destroying the area. The best way we can respect the area is to take only photos, leave only foot prints. Enjoy the Park with this thoroughly researched, beautiful and comprehensive book. Say g’day to folks you meet on the paths! Andcwhen you buy the book Monica and Phil will write you a personal dedication of your own words on the inside cover. Nice touch.

We recently enjoyed a long weekend in Halls Gap and the holiday cottage we rented had a copy of your book. Having already got a number of Grampians walks books on our shelf at home, we didn’t think we needed another one. How wrong we were! This guide is a cut above all the rest. It’s clearly the outcome of a labour of love, written by two people who know the place intimately. All the trails are wonderfully curated, combining old favourites and some newer surprises made possible by the newly-opened Grampians Peaks Trail. We loved the personal recommendations and the really fascinating context sections on flora and fauna, and indigenous place names. There’s a perfect amount of detail in the walking instructions (easy enough to follow, not so much that you get lost in the detail) accompanied by clear maps. The gradient graphs are another really useful feature that was very helpful in selecting trails. Thanks, Monica and Phil, for creating such a brilliant guide! We can’t wait to return to the Grampians with this guide in our rucksack!

What a thorough book! I am so glad to have ordered this. Maps, descriptions, information about start and end locations, distances, route type, water, etc. Probably the best route book I’ve come across for any parks/trail area!

Thanks for your glowing comments Sarah. Hope you enjoy walking in the beautiful Grampians that we are proud to call our home.

Finally, a walking guidebook for exploring, in some depth, the multiple dimensions of a visit to the Grampians. Offering the most extensive range of walk options, along with intriguing insights and observations that could easily be missed without the guidance provided by the authors. A power pack of information, as well as inspiration, for appreciating the history, beauty and biodiversity of the Grampians.

Thanks Sharon. Glad you like the huge amount of detail we have covered. Kept us off the streets during Covid-19!
